In response to the current Coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak and community economic disruption, the TVEC Charitable Foundation Board of Directors met March 25 and approved $15,000 in an initial round of funding for bill payment assistance to TVEC members.
“This is such a unique and widespread event that will have a major effect on TVEC members, the Board of Directors and Management felt this was a good first step in providing concrete financial assistance for those who need it most,” said TVEC General Manager/CEO Jeff Lane. “We will continue to monitor the situation and look for ways to respond to benefit our members and our community as we go through this together.”
The TVEC Charitable Foundation is funded by TVEC members who participate in Operation Round Up™. The program, which has donated more than $2 million to local charitable causes since 2013, rounds up electricity bills to the next dollar, averaging about $6 per year for each participating member.
The $15,000 in bill assistance donations has been disbursed to community organizations that provide bill assistance to TVEC members. A list of those organizations can be found at tvec.net.
For TVEC members who may be looking for ways to assist neighbors in need, these organizations are a great way to do that. Contact information and website links are available at tvec.net/bill-payment-assistance.
