Here’s a Happy New Year to you and yours!
According to the Electrical Safety Foundation 25% of holiday related home fires are the result of decorations, so it might be in your best interest to get that stuff back into storage. And of course, if you had a real tree that really needs to go outside.
TVEC Account Systems Year-End Maintenance
TVEC accounting and member information systems will be undergoing year-end maintenance and processing beginning at 5:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve until about 6 a.m. on January 1. That means payments and account management features through TVEC.NET, the myTVEC mobile app and automated phone systems will not be available.
Planned Outages January 6 and 7
Members affected by next week’s short planned outages should have received postcards in the mail over the last week or so. Find more details here.
The weather looks like it will cooperate, and we do not currently anticipate any delays in getting this work done as planned.
Youth Tour – Entries Due by January 17!
TVEC area high schoolers only have a little more than two weeks to enter to win one of two spots on the Government-in-Action Youth Tour. That is a nine-day all-expenses-paid trip to Austin and Washington D.C. in June, with hundreds of other co-op kids from around the nation. It is a great opportunity to learn about government, meet officials, increase independence and get a short taste of life away from home, while having a great time in the nations capital!
Weather Outlook
The warm break for Christmas was nice for outdoor family fun, but cooler weather is back on tap with nightly lows in the 30s to let us know it is winter, after all.
Cold nights mean running heaters of course which can quickly add up to high energy usage. When your heater is tasked with making up a 30-degree temperature difference, it can run for extended times. Be sure to help it run as efficiently as possible with clean filters, and close curtains to block window heat loss over night.
Don’s Random Things on the Internet
If you are looking for a list of things that happened in 2019 … Here is a list of lists
Looking for unique places to visit in Texas in 2020? Here is a list for that too
And since we are an electricity company … Sparky Park, a substation-turned-art-installation (In Austin, of course)
Location tracking data from our cell phones is a little bit unnerving
Happy New Year, Everybody!
