Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative Scholarship Fund

2017 Scholarship Information and Guidelines for Eligibility

TVEC awards scholarship funds to 23 schools in the TVEC service area. Funds for these scholarships are provided by the unclaimed escheat money that is returned to the cooperative to use for specific purposes such as scholarships, economic development and energy conservation efforts. Each school’s scholarship committee, in accordance with the eligibility guidelines set by TVEC, selects the recipient(s) of the scholarship.

Guidelines for Eligibility

• Must have a parent or legal guardian receiving TVEC electric service at their primary residence.

• Must be a graduating senior.

• Must rank in the top 20% of class.

• Must be enrolling in a full-time accredited institution of higher learning. (Full-time is defined as twelve semester hours or as otherwise defined by the registrar of the institution.)

AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP

Each scholarship will be awarded based on a fixed amount predetermined by the TVEC Scholarship Committee or Board of Directors each year.

PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP

Payment for the scholarship will be made by TVEC directly to the institution in which the recipient is enrolled. The recipient is responsible for providing TVEC with proof of registration at the institution before payment is released. 

 

SELECTION PROCESS

Interested students should contact their school counselor for more information. Each school's scholarship committee, in accordance with the eligibility guidelines set by TVEC, selects the recipent(s) of the scholarship.

Private, Virtual Public and Home School

ELIGIBILITY

Scholarship applicants must have been accepted to an institution of higher learning, must not have previously attended college on a full-time basis, and live with parents or legal guardians who are members and receiving electric service from TVEC at their primary residence.  The application deadline for this scholarship is August 1.

AWARD

Cumulative scholarship amounts will be determined by the TVEC Board of Directors on an annual basis.

Minimum and maximum individual scholarship amounts will be determined by the TVEC Board of Directors on an annual basis.

PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP

Payment for the scholarship will be made by TVEC directly to the institution in which the recipient is enrolled.  The recipient is responsible for providing TVEC with proof of registration at the institution before payment is released. 

Recipients must be enrolled full-time in an accredited institution of higher learning.  Full-time enrollment is defined as 12 semester hours or as otherwise defined by the registrar of the institution.

SELECTION PROCESS

Students will be required to submit an essay on a topic to be chosen by TVEC. The Essays will be judged by an independent panel of judges. Scholarships will be awarded to the top scoring essays.

 

Applications are available online beginning in January of each year.  TVEC must verify all applicants meet the eligibility requirements.
